I originally hired Mark Eppley 11/18, for what I’d though would be a simple child support case. Shortly after my case was handed to Karen Oakley. It’s been a complete nightmare ever since. There was no timely notification of hearings, Karen once called me an HOUR before court asking “what did I want?” In regards to matters that should have been discussed prior to the day of. Other times Mark, Karen, and Andrew have shown up to court and without briefing me, and trying to negotiate in front of everyone in the waiting area.
As far as legal work they just forwarded whatever the opposing counsel sent. No explanations just forward. I don’t think they drafted anything on my behalf.
The lawyers in the practice (mentioned above) showed up to court reeking of cigarette smoke, wearing HIKING BOOTS, and a torn messenger bag. Completely making you feel proud you hired tip-top counsel/s.
After asking Karen off the case the staff became increasingly hostile. I got a bill in October for $700 or so. I asked Mark in person (11/19) for clarification on a charge for a blank email. He never replied. I get a letter stating Karen sent a letter to the court asking to be excused off the case (after I asked her off) because I was a “difficult” client. The office said she’s an “independent contractor” and they can control what she said.
I was told Mark would return my call, he never did. I call today and the secretary Sherri said “they sent you a letter...” and then offered to send me an email update. In the email there’s a letter dated for today 2/18/20, saying they terminated services bc of a $3500 bill(which they never contacted me about) There are charges on there BEFORE the previous invoice and at different rates.
So as I untangle this nightmare and work out the bill I will say avoid this practice like the plague, the weird charges, unreturned phone calls, and lack of diligence will cause you way more stress than it’s worth.
Some friends of mine suggested adoption, but we didn’t know where to start. I ended up contacting Mark and he was really knowledgeable on the subject. He gave me tons of information and guided my husband and I during the entire process. In July of last year we adopted our first child.
Mark helped me during a really dark time in my life. When I was told I would not be able to be a mother I lost all hope and my future did not seem very bright, but thanks to Mark my biggest dream came true and I am now a mom.
I would recommend Mark to anyone who is looking to adopt. He is amazing!
