I used to be a customer of theirs but now I'm not I've taken my business else where. I bought a mower cash from them 2 yrs ago and now every time I bring it in for warranty related issues they always change my belts,just to charge me money,it doesnt matter if the belts are good or not they will rip them off and charge $100 or more everytime. I would deffintly recommnend true value in ellitsville. There labor is cheaper per hr and so are there parts and if it do t need fixed they won't charge for repairs not needed.

Stopped in this morning with a riding mower - the service person I talked to was just plain rude - plus turned me away - saying that they are busy and won't be taking new work in for another month .... I will not go there again .

Around mid July I noticed my riding mower which was just over a year and a half old was leaking fluid around a set of obviously blown axle seals. Since both myself and my father depend on this mower I immediately took it to the only lawn mower service shop I was aware of.
Upon unloading it and explaining the problem to the counter employee at Richard's small engines in elletsville I was approached by the owner of the shop and he asked "did you buy that here?" I said "no, I bought it at lowes" ..he immediately got an attitude and told me "then you should take it to lowes and have them fix it"... then the counter employee acquired the same attitude and told me they would fix it if I agreed to not use my warranty. Since I knew of no where else to take it and both me and my father needed it I agreed. After unloading and parking it in the parking lot I followed the counter man back inside to store. He turned and asked me "what do you want now?" I said " don't you give me a ticket or receipt to show I left that here?" He said no, it will be about three weeks...i said " so i could come back in three weeks and have no proof i left anything here? He said " if your worried about that just load that @#$ up and get out of here!"
I should have!
Four weeks later i get a phone call asking me to bring my warranty paperwork in to the shop. I thought they had had a change of heart and decided to do the right thing so i drove to elletsville with my paperwork.. immediately upon entering the shop the counter employee began a verbal attack because both him and the owner already said they would not honor the warranty. I explained i was only doing what i had been told over the phone. He said " well somebody does not know what's happening" he then had a talk with the service tech who had called me. That tech told me he would put together a quote and call me...i waited two more weeks.. called the service tech, asked about the status of my mower..after tapping on his computer for a minute he told me " we are waiting on someone to bring in warranty paperwork " i reminded him what had happened two weeks prior.. he said oh, ok..let me check into it and call you back.. after no call back i decided to go pick up my mower.
So i lost the majority of the mowing season
Both mine and my dads yards look like jungles and will be extremely difficult to mow if I ever get a mower
My mower which has never been left outside has been a rain gauge in a parking lot for a month and a half.
Sorry about the long rant but I just thought I might spare someone else the inconvenience of dealing with an arrogant overbearing business owner who does not need , or appreciate your business if you happen to own equipment purchased elsewhere.

Purge Bulb for a weed eater extremely over priced 15.99 for a 2 dollar item even with a high margin.
Will shop on-line in the future.

We came here under the recommendation of two other people and are so happy we came here instead of Lowe's (and we love Lowe's!). We did research on what mower we wanted to buy and Mike M. was very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and we were in and out in about 20 minutes. He provided us with honest guidance and information on the products. Not only that, the price, which is the same as it would have been at Lowe's, included 1) the mower, already put together 2) gas in the mower and a test run by the shop to make sure it was running properly 3) loading the mower into the truck without us even having to ask and 4) a great warranty. Thank you so much! We'll be back and we highly recommend this company!

The guys here are really helpful and the prices are as competitive as everyone else. However, this place is great when it comes to recommendations and advice. Their service was great when I bought my mower here. They helped me find a mower that was fit for my needs and budget, made sure it ran without and problems, and fueled it up for my first mow. If you're in the area and need small engine equipment, this is the place to go.

I love this place! They fix anything from a lawn mower to a combine! Don't think for a minute because you're a woman that they will treat you any different or try to price gouge you! This is not the case here. They treat you just like anyone else. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can even call ahead with the part that you need and they will have it ready and waiting for you! I would definitely recommend this place if you need anything worked on or need parts for any of your lawn equipment Etc... For home or Farm!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! ALL I WANTED WAS A PART FOR MY MOWER, AND THE PERSON I TALKED TO WAS VERY RUDE AND HE HAD TO HAVE AN ENGINE CODE, AFTER I TOLD HIM I HAD A SERIAL NUMBER AND MODEL NUMBER. I CALLED ANOTHER SHOP THEY GOT ME WHAT I NEEDED NO PROBLEM. DO NOT DEAL WITH RICHARDS SMALL ENGINE, AND I WILL BE TELLING EVERYONE ABOUT THEM.

Richards has great customer service and is very knowledgeable when it comes to repairs. I started my company in 2010, and they have taken great care of me whether I am buying a $2 part or a $30k+ tractor.

We here at the Bristoe house have bought may things from these folk and even when we broke them they were great about getting us back up and running. including our 20 year old craftsman we didn't get from them.

I've been a customer for many years, always a pleasure to deal with Richard. Also very appreciative of the fact that they maintain the tractor 'bone yard,' good prices on used parts and also keeps lots of good tractors out of the scrap yard.

Bought a Husky axe from this shop. Salesman was very honest and stated that he doesn't sell many of these and he would drop the price down to cost. It was worth the extra driving time to shop at Richardson's for me.

Bought a club cadet from them for 2500 dollars and within a little over a year I've had to have the belt replaced twice(by them) and now after 2 mows the engine will not start. Do not ever by a used mower from them #LEMON

Great customer service. Took my decades old Homelite Super XL chainsaw to them because the muffler had rusted out. They explained how this company had gone under some years back and that replacement parts were not available. Then promptly walked me back to their "bone pile" where they found a couple of similar models that could be cannibalized for parts. Five minutes and $10 later I had a muffler in very good to excellent condition that should keep my saw going for another thirty years.

Awesome service and great people to work with. Bought a new LS tractor and backhoe from them. Very reasonable price and the minor issue I did have with it they took care of immediately.
I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a quality dealer. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else for yard equipment or service.

Poor customer service! Purchased a trimmer at $275, within 2 months didn't work. Replaced carb for around $60, still didn't work! Only thing they could offer from there was to buy it from me for $50. Took it somewhere else and they fixed it for $50 and 2 years later it is still running good. Would never go back there for anything, they are the rudest people I have ever dealt with.

A lot better service than the big box stores. I dropped my mower off to be repaired on a Friday and they called me to tell me it was ready the next day.
