Stephen Jackel and his staff are so lovely (and talented), I can't recommend them enough. Stephen is kind and attentive. I was impressed from the moment I first spoke to him, because (unlike other attorneys I'd called), he first told me that he was hesitant to take the case, because at face value he wasn't sure we would win. But he agreed to meet with me, and at the end of the meeting he said he was interested in representing me if I wished him to. Stephen took the time to understand my case, and went on to win it for/with me. In addition to being successful, Stephen was very sensitive to some delicate issues related to my testimony, and he made every effort to make sure I felt safe and comfortable at the hearing. After a judge declined to subpoena my medical records, I was annoyed, but willing to pay the fee (about $450) personally. Stephen's office wouldn't hear of it. He set one of his staff to work, and in two days the hospital had agreed to waive the fee. If you have a disability case to deal with in NYC, you couldn't have a better attorney at your side than Stephen Jackel.

I can't recommend Counselor Jackel and his staff highly enough. Not only were they successful in processing my claim, they were successful on the first attempt. Typically the first attempt is denied and the claim goes to a hearing. This can take as long as 15 months. Also, the level of thoroughness, kindness and consideration extended to me were exceptional.

Stephen Jackel is a stellar attorney. Because of him, my case was successful. He knew exactly how to proceed with my particular case, was attentive to detail and supportive throughout the process, his prep left me feeling prepared and ready to testify, and the presentation of the case clearly met with the judge’s approval. It’s a falsehood to think you can put off filing SSI or SSDI on your own & save money. You are losing money every day you wait. Medical record collection alone can take years when you are chronically ill. You might find yourself battling financial, housing, food, healthcare, home care and accessible transit crises all at the same time, too.

Stephen & his Wonder-Paralegal Leo knocked my SSDI approval out of the park for me. I would have nothing if it weren’t for their persistence & professionalism in collecting & presenting my record of illnesses as they had.

Mr. Jackel was and still is a godsend. Without him representing me I would have never won my Social Security Disability Case. I reached out to several other attorneys before I found Mr. Jackel via a goggle search. Things happen for a reason.

I found Stephen Jackel through a google search after my initial social security claim was denied. His website was amazing, offering up so much information about a very confusing process. So, i called, and had a conversation with his assistant, who then had Stephen call me. We spoke on the phone at some length, then i met with him in person to give him all my papers, etc.
We then waited almost 16 months before being granted an appeal hearing. There were alot of questions i had while we waited, because i also had some disability insurance from my job. He is patient, very clear in his language, and always responded immediately to any question I had. He has an amazing depth of knowledge about an often dizzying process.

Stephen is an excellent attorney. At first, I cautiously tried phoning a few of the numbers that social security/disability recommends, trust me that they are not doing you any favors.
