Messy office, messy nasty lawyer!

Not good..as a lawyer..

$75 consultation fee. Was unable to even speak to anyone over the phone first. Horrible service to the community.

Rude, arrogant, unprofessional and greedy.
I normally do not write reviews. If I am writing one it means that I had a very bad experience.

I retained Roberta for an eviction letter. After my tenant responded I ASKED her what the next step would be.
Her answer was: "I am not retained for that".
She will charge you for the air that she is breathing and she will treat you like a piece of sh... while speaking at the phone.

There are plenty more fish in the Ocean.
There is no need to pay someone that treats you like this.

I'm so glad that I hired Roberta Tarkan. I was properly defended against an abusive and a disorderly Landlord.
She was very professional, efficient with the Court employees,Judge. She was very knowledgeable and experienced.
She stopped every abuse from the Landlord.
She directly and personally always contacted me, was always available for appointments including the weekends. Her staff were friendly and professional. I felt very safe and legally protected during the entire stressful case. And we won!

Roberta is a tough no nonsense attorney. A lot of people may take her no nonsense attitude and may construe it as harsh or rude. I’ve learned pretty quickly that in this business and others there is no time to sugarcoat things or cater to people’s egos or sensitivity issues. Thick skin is definitely a must. In all honesty the harshness is only because she’s a realist and she’s going to absolutely tell you how it is. The legal truth can hurt. Unfortunately not everyone is aware of the law and they think that just because they’ve been wronged morally or even legally that’s an automatic win in a court of law unfortunately it just doesn’t work like that. It really is a “it’s not what you know it’s what you can prove” type of thing. From personal experience as well as for four other clients that I recommended to hire her, and everyone did agree that she is tough and some may even say that she can be a little intimidating because of her knowledge and because of her no-nonsense attitude however, she won the cases for everyone I sent her way. She won numerous cases for me. She continues to represent me today and she will continue to represent me any other time I may need an attorney. She has represented both landlords and tenants which gives her an advantage because she knows how the other side is thinking and what defenses are available to them and she gets the job done! It’s really very simple, men lie, women lie, the numbers don’t. She is a win!

Disrespectful,Rude and Annoying
Yelled at me constantly, never heard what I had to say and she said that the people that were suing me sounded more credible and nicer than me!
Just lazy she wants to avoid going to court so tells you that you are going to lose and that you should settle!
Please Stay Away from this woman she is the rudest person that I have ever met !!!

This woman is certifiably crazy. Worst communicator, does not listen, yells at you when you ask a question, non supportive, and her office space is appalling and disgusting. I'm ashamed I even wasted.my time seeing her. She is not helpful and provided zero clarity to my case.

She is very rude and nasty. What lawyer tells her client not to go to court because they are going to lose when everything is in the clients favor. How does she also forget everything and then wants to talk down to her clients like they are garbage. This lady is the worst. Word of advice, seek other counsel. Do not waste your time with this lady.

Called for advice, was told to 'make it quick you only have one question' after I laughed at such a rude response, the lady hung up on me. Very unprofessional and a waste of time.

Totally unprofessional and we have her on transcript record lying about tenants rent control apt. status . That is in itself punishable by law. Like previous comentators had mentioned, me too am surprised she has not been disbared yet !!

Brian Marston got it right. She is nasty, slanderous and generally, a liar.
She lies about serving her adversaries. She lies and literally creates stories to bolster her case. I am shocked that she is still licensed!

Roberta Tarkan is very knowledgeable in Hudson County Landlord-Tenant law. She has represented my company for years in both landlord tenant actions and real estate transaction. Ms. Tarkan is easy to work with and gets the job done.

A friend recommended me to see her. She the most rude attorney I've encountered. I think she forgot she was being paid for her services not the other way around. Please don't use this lady to represent you. She talks down to her clients like they are garbage. Please invest the time and pay for a good respectable lanlord/tenant attorney.

This is a great lawyer; She became my Number 1 Choice whenever I need a lawyer I went to her office after a court case suddenly got very complicated and on a short notice she took the time to understand the case and immediately started the research process to build the best strategy to ultimately achieve the goal.
